If my travel life were a song lyric, it’d go something like, “If you're looking for me, baby, you know you can find me following the sun…” Bali, Thailand, Fiji—you name it, I’ve probably found a reason to visit. But in recent years, I've fallen head over heels for the Fijian islands. We’ve tried and tested many of them, and let me tell you, for a family who loves the water, you simply cannot beat a BULA Fijian Island holiday. There’s nothing like escaping Adelaide’s drizzly winters to bask in that perfect island sunshine.
And yet, for years, I couldn’t imagine swapping even one Aussie summer day for anywhere cold. Until… I did.
Twenty years since our last trip, we returned to Falls Creek with the family. This time, the kids were ski-school ready, hubby and I got to hit the slopes together, and we all had the time of our lives. Safe to say, we caught the snow bug. My bestie seized the moment, dropping hints to my husband about Japan’s insane powder. Next thing I know, we’re planning our January in the snow. I had a solid screwed-up face moment, but with the right company, I figured it was worth a shot.
Life. Changing. I mean, WOW. If you’ve been, you know, and if you know, there’s no going back. Japan has it all—the people, the culture, the food, and yep, THE SNOW. The panoramic beauty of the Japanese snowfields is breathtaking. That first year, we stayed in Nozawa Onsen with twenty friends from all over Australia. The next year? Shiga Kogen, with another stop in Nozawa. This time? Back to Shiga Kogen. In just a couple of years, I’ve become a snow fanatic, studying the best slopes, the best times of year, the transfers… researching snow adventures is literally what I do for fun. So if you are ready to swap an Aussie summer week for some JAPOW - hit me up.
So, my travel song lyric might be more like, “these are the moments, the moments we live for.” And if you’re looking for a sun or snow escape—whether it’s solo, with family, or a whole crew—truth is, I’d love to help!
